This is a pencil sketch of a horse and rider drawn in 1944 by my Mom’s nephew, Celso Pacheco. Mom was 19 years of age at the time, and he was 14 years old. The dedication, in Spanish, reads: “Dedico este humilde recuerdo a mi tia Maria Elena Hernandez de su sobrino Celso Pacheco. 10/1/44” — In English, it reads: I dedicate this humble memento to my aunt Maria Elena Hernandez from her nephew Celso Pacheco. 10/1/44
I so admire my cousin’s talent; he continues with his creativity to this day. His sketch remains displayed on the inside cover of Mom’s book of poems.
